Dear Mi 5c Fans!
Today marks the day that Xiaomi start selling the most coveted Pinecone SoC in Surge S1 processor. But every beginning has its own birth pains, the sale went off pretty fast as units got sold out in seconds.
Now you might be trying to buy from 3rd party resellers by now as anticipation of this historically newly minted smartphone from Xiaomi.
Lets take for example this site
They dont know that there will be network compatibility issues, this was the issues during the days of Redmi Note 4G and Mi4 when Xiaomi phones starts to ship with LTE technology. The problem this time reoccur again and we here at the Global Forum are warning you before you click that buy button and you might end up having an expensive wifi phone.
Now let me explain
The Mi 5c is stated to work with China Mobile.
Now what if it will work with China Mobile, this phone is equipped with TD-LTE which the said telco uses to broadcast LTE signal to its subscribers. Now most of the rest of the world deploys FDD-LTE, in short it will NOT work in your home country. Unless Xiaomi will release another followup unit which supports China UNICOM FDD-LTE, this phone will just be a dream for each one of us.
So what will work only?
Only 2G signal will work for all of us outside China, we wont even taste 3G or 3G+ on this premium unit.
Now you have been warned, please be advised that Xiaomi is not liable should you buy this unit and the 3rd party reseller refuses to refund or replace your said unit.
